As Labor Day approaches on Monday, September 2, marking the unofficial end of summer, many Americans will take advantage of the long weekend for final summer activities. However, those with errands to run should be aware of the following closures and openings.
Retail Stores:
Most major retailers will be open. Stores under the Kroger umbrella—such as Ralphs, Fred Meyer, and others—will operate during regular hours. Walmart and Target will also be open. CVS Pharmacy locations will generally be open, although some may have reduced hours. Walgreens stores will maintain normal operating hours, but most pharmacies within these stores will be closed, except for 24-hour locations and select outlets.
Notably, Costco will be closed for the holiday.
Postal and Delivery Services:
The United States Postal Service (USPS) will not be operating, and all UPS services will be suspended except for UPS Express Critical. FedEx will offer limited services, with only FedEx Custom Critical available and FedEx Office operating on modified hours.
Banks:
Labor Day is a federal holiday, meaning all banks will be closed. However, ATMs and online banking will remain accessible.
Financial Markets:
The US stock markets, including NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange, will not be trading.
Government Services:
Federal offices and government buildings, such as the DMV and local libraries, will be closed. State and local courts will also be non-operational.
